Travel Tips

If you are a trekker trekking for the first time to the base camp, you might have a lot of questions on how to make the most out of the trip. You might have read different blogs, done your own research and even asked your fellow trekkers, but with different people comes different feedbacks. This might get exhausting mentally and physically as you may not be sure what to do exactly.

So, to narrow it all down, we have listed few tips for Everest base camp trek below to give you a head start:

Advance Booking:

September is the starting month of the autumn season so there might be large number of trekkers dwelling into the region. The routes have limited number of accommodation options, so make sure you have booked your accommodation facilities in advance so that there is no hassle later.

Insect Repellant:

Early September is like monsoon in the Everest region. So, you might find insects and bugs on the trekking trail. Ensure you have insect repellant lotion or spray to put it on your body to avoid any insect bites.

Early Start:

Starting early is always good in trekking. You will have more time on the trail where you can go slow and rest in case you feel tired. During the September, the mornings are clear but might drizzle in the evening so, starting early will give you a quick start.

Rain proof gear:

Since early September is monsoon in the region, you might experience rainfall while you are on the trail. Wearing rain proof gears will avoid you getting wet and falling sick on the trek. Make sure you have rain cover to protect your bags or the equipment. Also, ensure the trekking boots have sturdy sole to easily walk on the wet trails.

Extra Cash:

It is to be remembered that there are no ATM machines or online transactions on the higher altitude area. The tea houses will charge you extra cash for the services you use. Also, paying for your food and accommodation is done in cash. Tipping can be done at the end of the trip. However, hiring porters or even air ambulance will cost you money. So make sure you have cash in hand during the trek.

Conclusion

September is the lovely time for the Everest Base Camp trek which takes to the foothills of the mighty Everest. You will have the chance to explore the ethnic settlement of the Himalayan Sherpa, their culture and traditions. The perfect weather and beautiful landscape makes the trekking experience unforgettable.
